Discussion Gaming Lifestyle at Examiner.com

Hey guys:

I'm writing for Examiner.com now as the Phoenix Gaming Lifestyle guy. I currently have three articles up, but plan on updating about 5 times a week (or so.) It's an interesting gig, low pay but a "do what you will" type of atmosphere.

My Gaming Lifestyle column

Check it out, leave comments. Suggest articles you would like to see. In my mind, I'm doing most everything that encompasses "Gaming Lifestyle," Not just the digital side. I plan on doing some pieces on pen and paper RPG gaming and such too.

I also want to hit most of the in state conventions in the coming year...

I'm hoping this (along with some other projects I'm working on) will help get my name out there as a writer. Plus I am very familiar with the subject i am writing about

For those that might be a little curious: I am currently concentrating all my efforts in to writing. I quit my job about a month and a half ago... It was an emotional quit, one that I maybe shouldn't have done. I don't miss the job, but i do miss the money (What little there was, heh.) However being dirt poor makes one realize a few things. A creative writing teacher once told me that successful writers start out either really really poor or really really rich. I think I am finally coming to the point where I understand that...

It's really cool that you're doing that. I wish you the best of luck getting your name out there. One of my friends here in Sacramento writes for the Examiner on food and drink topics for the same reason - to get her name out there. I like how all of the columns (not just yours) on Examiner.com are nice and short, easy and quick to read.

Re: Gaming Lifestyle at Examiner.com

We are suppose to keep the articles between 200 and 400 words, but I notice that not everyone abides by that. The site has a very loose editor ship... That can be both a plus and a minus. I've read a few articles that have some pretty glaring mistakes in them. You think people would *at least* run the article through a spell checker before posting them...

Anyway, we'll see what happens. I'm going to try to post four or five times a week. And see what happens. Little steps often lead to big things.
